In 1997, the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin County Mutual opened the doors to other local units of local government wishing to access the highly successful County Mutual program.  The County Mutual was organized in 1988 by county officials to provide insurance protection for Wisconsin’s counties.  Today, the County Mutual insures over 75 percent of counties in the state.

Because of the County Mutual’s success also insuring cities, towns and villages, the Board of Directors strategically sought to provide a specialized carrier devoted to the specific needs of Wisconsin’s municipalities and school districts.

In 2001, Community Insurance Corporation was created and today, the company has a formidable presence in Wisconsin, insuring cities, towns, villages and school districts.
